So, I said in my last post that I wasn’t going to update this blog anymore. Well I guess I’m a liar, because here I am updating it! I don’t have much to say right now, but I just wanted to post. I’ve got a lot to fill you all in on, so I’ll have to get writing soon!
I’ve been a little sparse on here lately. I decided awhile ago that I wanted to learn how to create and maintain a website, so I’m now posting at accordingtokel.com
It’s not pretty and very rough around the edges, but that’s where I’ll be posting all my updates for the most part.
Thanks for reading!
One of the things I missed (but didn’t at the same time) last winter was true winter weather. Yes, Seattle got about an inch of snow that shut the city down for a week, but that’s because people here don’t know how to handle it. When I was home for Christmas, I was lucky enough to experience a blizzard, and continual snowfall why I was there. I say lucky, because I had no clothes that were appropriate for shoveling, so I was able to dodge that bullet! 🙂
While all this snow was falling, I realized how much I truly love to watch the snow fall. My favorite thing to do in the winter is to sit in a room and stare out the window at night and watch the snow fall. It’s even better if there’s a light and you can see the snow flakes falling into that. Snow fall at night just makes everything prettier. Snow fall at night in the country with the snow falling on trees? Even more magical.
When I saw this quote online talking about snow fall, in the forest, it made me happy and also made me wish I could see snow falling in the forest at least once this winter.
After having yesterday off, I realized I have a 4 day week, followed by a 2 1/2 day week, followed by a 12 day vacation. I am ready for all of it and I’m sure it’ll fly by. On an unrelated note, how awesome is the view from my office?? It’s great during the day and also pretty at night when it’s dark and the lights are on the ferris wheel.
The best part of going to work every day is the view!
Last week was a crazy week for me, and this week isn’t showing any signs of stopping. Last week was over, and I realized that I hadn’t blogged and I hadn’t really done a lot of me time. Which was nice, but by the time the weekend rolled around I was worn out and ready to be a bum. When I looked at my schedule for this week, I realized:
- Thanksgiving, and my big trip home is coming fast
- I’m really booked up. Which is nice
I’ve been really working at trying to meet new people and make new friends the past couple of months and it feels like it’s finally starting to pay off. Tonight I met with some of the members of the alums group I’m president of and we did some brainstorming and outlining of next steps, which makes me feel really great about the direction the organization is heading in. Tomorrow night, I’m meeting up with some people that I’ve probably been friends with the longest in Seattle. We are all really busy, so it’ll be nice to catch up with them again. Thursday I’m going to another happy with a new friend, before going to dinner Friday night with a group of people I’ve been meeting up with lately. I’m also defending my skeeball champion title.
If that wasn’t insane enough, my schedule isn’t slowing down into next week either. Sunday, I’m doing a 5k, but just walking this time. I haven’t run in about two months, as it just wasn’t working for me. I’m hoping to get back into after the holidays, Monday I have a long overdue haircut, Tuesday night I have dinner and trivia with some friends, and Wednesday I’ll be frantically finishing up packing/cleaning out the fridge before my 6:55am flight Thursday morning. Which means I will be leaving my apartment to head to SeaTac at 4am. Not cool Delta airlines. Not cool, but that’s a story for a different time and place.
Anyway, that’s what’s going on in my life at the moment. It’s a little crazy and a little hectic, but after a year of quiet and slowness, I’ll take it.
